50s here tomorrow then it's a down hill slide into the low thirty's for highs and mid teens for lows.   No motorized equipment on the ice for our inland lakes it's pull-it, push-it or, get somebody else to do it.

I was but a few months old during the snow storm in 1950 so I don't remember, too much about that one but I sure do remember, some of the winters afterward.  Wasn't uncommon through the sixtys to see ice chunks the size of automobiles pushed up from French Creek onto Otter Street in Franklin, PA. during a spring thaw.

If yinz get on some of those Lakers, don't forget the pictures.

Good times and tight lines.

I do remember the days of my grandparents down in the valley from us through the 60-70's. Walking distance from then and now. Creeks would flood, firehouse pumpouts were a spring time routine.
Riding my mini bike around and crushing car size ice chunks in June were normal, sometimes July.
I still live here but haven't experienced that type of conditions in 30 plus ? Years .
It gets cold and some snow but nowadays, it doesn't seem as long standing. Maybe because we are so older and time keeps flashing by

Winter Storm Watch

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Cleveland OH
300 PM EST Wed Dec 6 2017

.Lake effect snow will develop over the lake tonight but
southwest winds will keep it mostly north of the area. Winds will
become more westerly toward morning and that may cause the bands
to sink south over the east end of Erie County. The snow may pick
up Thursday afternoon and evening as deeper moisture and westerly
flow develops. However...winds will return to the southwest early
Friday and any remaining snow bands will move back up the lake by
daybreak Friday.

Including the cities of Erie and Edinboro
300 PM EST Wed Dec 6 2017

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING
THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow possible...especially over the
east end of Erie County. Total snow accumulations could exceed
8 inches over the northeastern end of Erie County.
Accumulations in the City of Erie are expected to be no more
than a few inches with no more than an inch or two close the
Crawford County line. Most of this accumulation will occur
Thursday afternoon and evening. Snowfall rates could exceed 2
inches per hour with the stronger snow bands.

* WHERE...Erie County...mainly east of the City of Erie.

* WHEN...Thursday and Thursday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant reductions in visibility are
possible. Rapidly changing and highly variable conditions can
also be expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch for heavy lake effect snow means there is a
potential for a large amount of snow in only a few hours.
Visibilities and depth of snow can vary greatly, impacting travel
significantly. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

I watched the tv last night for first time in a long. It was the weather (channel) which I didn't know it's now called underground.
Anyway, they were forecasting big snow depths, like 48 plus. Of course it's drama for them.

I really prefer to what locals feel about things instead of nationalist

From what I see the big snow will stay North of the creeks for this event

Calm winds and about 3" wet snow. Should have went hunting but got lots chores done instead.
I will be on ice again in 2017. Know of some who have already. That's another thread.
Hope your shovels be light.

Yeah.... what HT sayed, bring on the ice.

Got about 1" of snow overnight, go figure, whitetailed firearms closed down in my little piece of Penn's Woods just after sundown, this Sat. past.  Time to break out the ice auger, rods and shanty (pending ice).   ummm, till late season archery then it's nite fishin only. Priceless!!

So it snowed on and off until 0930am and then it started COMING DOWN.  I left at 1100 and  about 1.5 inches fell in that hour and half making about 5 inches total on the ground when I left. Funny thing was when I got to the town barn (about 2 ) miles out THE FREAKING SUN WAS SHINING änd you could see the snow wall behind and by the look of the Doppler its still coming hard. A friend texted me and they have close to a foot now. Here at home we got about 4 inches.  Report on the other post

We got about 5" here in the mid Hudson valley from the clipper that made it's way up the coast yesterday.  Not enough to fire up the snow thrower but enough to require breaking out the snow shovel.

I can't do o'dark 30 stuff to much anymore.
I'm figuring the game is a field already, I'm not gonna try to beat the gamers.
Some places it's a non issue , others I'll take the mid morning shift.
Funny thing is I still try to sleep in these past weekends but still awake at 5:50am .

Welp so far we have got about a foot on the ground here. I have not been up to Altmar or Pulaski , but from what I here it is close to 2 feet up there.  Weird what 10 to 12 miles will do.  Tug hill well over 3 to 4 feet. We will see where tonights LE sets up, now it is north again.  it's supposed to dip south tonight,  Calling for 8 to  12 we will see. On a sad note one of our yearling bulls jumped the stanchions and got his head caught trying to get back in. The results were not in his favor...................

We got a fraction of the first forecast but I think the weather dude may have just been a tad late on the timing. Putting down the snow really heavy here in my little piece of Penn's Woods and the radar shows more and more to come.

Prayers to those who must journey in this weather, may St Christopher be riding shotgun and kudos, to the saltshaker and plow operators working to keep the highways and byways as a safe as possible.

Looks like we might be finished with snow for a while in my little piece of PA. Weather dude says maybe some drizzle and rain then some sunshine during the week.. Temps could touch the 40s by mid week and right now with the wind from the south, the unofficial temp. showing on my "TWC" official weather station, says 28.9 degrees.

Nope. Being stranded braving cold sucks. Snow covered is worse.
My laker water was -7 .
I got my crap together at least for now as long as the snow stays away.
