r3g3,
Probably the best thing for him. Did you take any pictures of it?

Thanks guys-
Did it right- called in a legal bow kill report to the state and have a proper harvest number.
Neighbor took photos of the messed up jaw.

I once shot a really big doe in Pa's. two day doe season that had a 22. through its lower jaw at the back hinge.  It was at least a couple of months old,and appeared to be the attempt of a spotlight poacher. Although it appeared she couldn't use it right, she had a full belly of shinny black seeds about the size of sesame seeds. She was in very good condition, about as fat a doe I ever shot. It's amazing how incredibly hardy deer are,and the strong will to survive. I don't know how she would had made out after her food source ran out,but she was very healthy at the time.

Good deal r3g3 like what has already been said ya did the right thing. Afternoon hunt was interesting to say the least . Hit woods a little earlier then usual , checked camera this was on it .. now checked cameras Sunday not a deer for 5 days ...so was happy to see this boy. Now the good part had this buck under my stand messing around for 15 minutes , giving me a great broadside shot , sun shining on him everything you wish for on a hunt ... one problem he wasn’t legal 4 pt ... OH WELL it was fun. Only deer I saw from stand he even greeted me in the field as I was leaving to say bye 😜👍. So that’s how my afternoon went .... good luck guys !!

Steve does "3-up" not apply in your little piece of Penn's Woods?

I'd shoot sticks at that bad boy all day long. But only because, it would take me all day long to hit something with a pointy stick. LMAO ouch😡.... still a little tender heh heh hehh... ouch!

Great picture, looks like he's marking his spots. Bigger boys be in the area too.

Was out and about the past two days just to see what kind of the conditions the conditions was in when I stumbled upon a very nice rub that wasn't there yesterday.

Went to a fresh stand this afternoon that I haven't visited this year. Had 2 rubs within 20yds. An unknown buck passed behind me at last light. Saw horns, but too dark to make out the points through the brush.

Was out and about most of the day yesterday and never heard one gunshot.  Thought I heard a twangggg but I don't know if that was a compound or crossbow. [tshhh ba-dump]

Sure was a foggy one this morning, problem is, It wasn't until after the sun popped over the tree tops before I realized it wasn't just me.[]

I gotta go [bye]

OUCH!!!! shame about the damage to the vehicle.  Hope the neighbor is feeling better this morning.    Yes I know the hill, straight-up.... both ways.  Did a fire service hydraulics course pumping 600 gpm water up that hill, through a 4" supply line from a hydrant at the "Joy".  Sure was a bunch of people peed off 'cause they had to drive to the other end of Franklin and use Pone Lane.  Even madder people when they had to open spigots to clear the now funky water after we 'cracked' that hydrant.  Ohhhh wellll.   Gotta get the wet stuff on the red stuff.

Sure wasn't a good day to be out and about 'neakin through the trees.  Dad-burn leaves are so dry, I sounded like a herd of horses munchin carrots!!!

No rain in the forecast for my little piece of Penn's Woods until maybe this coming Monday.  Be safe, good luck and remember;

Super slow for me this fall. Might be my slowest archery season ever. All of my areas got hit with EHD so that is not helping. Found a dead buck this week.

Decided to take the morning off and go set some cameras to try to find something for the upcoming rut. Trimmed some potential stand locations as well.

Hunting this evening in Allegheny County and drew another blank.

My rifle is a black rifle

I hunted Thursday morning from daylight till 11:15 with my 7/30 waters in the old man season.lol Nada, nada ,nada. Went to my honey hole. It looks terrible,4 main trail are usually bare dirt, now are leaf covered,no rubs,no scrapes, and droppings. Looks like EHD did it's job here also. Time to squirrel hunt and fish.lol

DPMS ... yeah been pretty slow for me also. My neighbor did take a button buck Thursday morning with his old man Senior 06 ... lol. Told him have at it and he did 😜👍... I fall under that senior hunt ( rifle ) doe thingy but I pass ... just me I guess.

Big Tuna ... hear you too on the leaves covering usually dirt paths , one New scrape no rubs in my area... do have the big boy still showing up on camera but only at night. Only one buck under me so far this season and it was a 4pt ...sounds like rain Monday and Tuesday have to wait and see.... good luck guys !!

Rain coming in, will wash away the scent markings making for some nervous bucks gettin back out to check his turf.

Weather dude alert...... heavy rain and gusty wind at times this afternoon. Tree swingers may want to cinch-up that safety harness.

Good soaking tonight will quiet the wilds and make for some great "eye-to-eye" huntin in the morning.

Good luck to all and hunt safely.
