Identify this bottom feeder?

Was fishing with the kids at Glade Run Lake (newly re-built and stocked) and caught this fish off the bottom.  It doesn't seem to match any of the fish on the stock lists posted there.  I thought maybe a bluntnose minnow but this was at least 6" and that species can supposedly only grow to 4".  Any ideas?

Someone on another forum was able to identify this for me.  It's a creek chub.  I have caught plenty of river chubs in my life but never one of these and didn't know there was a difference.

Looks like something Cross bred with a LM bass. I was always under the impression that bottom feeders all had small mouths like carp and suckers.

Looks like a creek chub to me.  They can get pretty big.  Would imagine it was in the stream before they dammed it off again.

just because you caught it on the bottom doesn't make it a "bottom feeder" - creek chubs are about the best minnow bait you can get and you can catch them with a rod and reel with a small chunk of worm on a size 12 hook.

Ugh, can't believe I've never come across these before.  I did a bit of catfish and carp fishing in rivers and creeks as a kid/teenager and never saw one (only river chubs).  Thanks guys for the info.

About 20 years ago, fishing some small tributary of Mahoning Creek, near the Marion Center, we were catching chubs over 12".  Not sure what kind of chub they were, but they were huge.  There were a bunch of them too.  I think 3 of us there, and each caught 2-3, before we were convinced there weren't any trout in the stream we were fishing at.

Wow pork that's huge. Many of the really big chubs I've caught were horn heads. Nice chart fearme

The first one I caught, I clearly remember thinking it was a "nice" trout. After 2-3 we were kind of excited to catch more, since they were by far the biggest chubs we have ever seen. The small pool we were fishing was filled with them (or same few that were that dumb to be caught repeatedly)... The water there was clearly polluted, kind of cloudy bluish color. Could have maybe helped? It was near Creekside, PA. Maybe someone from that area knows of the place. Not to spot burn on a trophy chub area...

is that far enough East for fallfish?
Biggest I've seen came out of Walnut in Erie years ago. Caught it on another Creek chub that was about 3".

Looking at images, I think that is likely what they were.  I do remember them being more on the silver side than most creek chubs.

When I catch big chubs (8"+) it is almost a guaranteed big flathead.

And when the flats don't show, slit his belly till his guts flop out and toss it back out, the channels will show up guaranteed

You can jig, rip, crank, spin, spoon, troll, buzz, crawl, or pop any lure made, but you cant beat a big native natural bait fighting for his life on your hook while you have a beer watching your line knowing if you wait long enough its gonna get nailed by something bigger. Utilizing natures food chain
