Yet the stop sign hole now has gladiator arena seating and the channel (never less than 4' deep) wall can now hold even more combat fishermen. Lower Elk could be such an amazing fishery if more money was put into it. Even just from the mouth up to the boat launch.

You have to keep those fair weather fishermen happy, besides the wall at the launch was getting too crowded 🤣🤣🤣

I was around for the end of the pig pen. There was a rumor going around that someone pulled a huge pink out of there its last year of existence, anyone else remember that?

The Pig Pen was something to witness in it's prime ! Total chaotic combat fishing but still something to experience. I believe they allowed 50 fishermen in a shift with 3 shifts a day. They charged to use or cross the bridge and a charge to park. It was illegal to charge to fish. They allowed 75 guys in on the weekend shifts. People would be standing in lines to get in ! Coho were the main fish during that time period and hundreds were caught each day ! The one corner were the water entered into the Pen looked like a spider web of fishing lines fishing ! ...lol
 
You name it I seen it there....rods get taken by fish, drunks fall in (wasn't very deep), people get arrested for snagging, people dip netting fish, fights, vehicles broke into ! It was just loaded with fish when they dredged the mouth out with that big back hoe. Crazy is an understatement but entertaining as all h*ll !!! 

I remember all of the fish hanging on the fence in the pig pen.  Stomachs slashed open for the eggs with blood everywhere.  Crazy amount of fish caught right where the water from trout run ran in. 

Never fished it, but stopped by to observe a time or two. It was something to see, simply amazing.

call me crazy.... what about a program where they issue tags for the limits of fish your aloud to keep similar to deer hunting.... wonder if it could work and keep half of the fish from finding there way to a trash can or the garden.....  just a thought.....

So went up to creeks yesterday before taking a lil boat ride in the evening...the new mouth is still the same and I actually saw a guy with shovel digging it out.I guess he is local he said he keeps digging it out and lake closes it up.Seriously why cant PFBC just get a machine in there for 1 day and try really digging it out so boats can use it again.Meanwhile in Walnut access no worries folks they paid someone again to seed the grass along the wall so it is a pretty lil place for all the fisher peoples.Thanks again to the guy in silver pickup who parked right in front of boat ramp...Brilliant!

I think you were the one who said it before, they have to know about the problem before they can fix it. Somebody said they mentioned it to PFBC and they were unaware there was even an issue, how is is that possible if they're doing regular patrols unless they're not doing regular patrols.

I'm guessing that none of this will happen any time soon however, they're probably making plans to add lighting and concession stands over at the new Walnut Creek stadium

I expect that mother nature will have to take care of the mouth one way or another sumtim'...but I still think PFBC could and should try digging it out.

No it's all good I feel the same way you do. Lower elk used to be my brother's favorite stretch of water until last year when we didn't see a single fish anywhere in low conditions the first week of November. He has gotten accustomed to 20 mile nicely as a result.

Don't think it doesn't irritate the boaters too. elk is my favorite place to launch out of location wise, and there hasn't been trailers in that parking lot all summer, just like half of last summer, apparently no one has noticed!

Thats why I want mouth dug out for boat use...dont need a million dollar upgrade on access but sure would be nice to use that ramp again and access lake...WCW

ive only ever personally seen one boat, and that was early fall 2015. He come chuggin down through there at dusk all the guys in the creek fishing were so confused lol
