Go to erie in march and you will find the streams loaded with suckers.  You will catch them as long as you keep something cruising the bottom of the stream...

Really? Suckers? the same nuisance suckers you catch on your fly rod and wish them dead? Really? Didnt see that coming.

I've heard guys talking about pressure cooking them cause of all the bones.  If they are good you should be able to stock up on enough to feed a family in no time..

kind of leery, but a creek that we get walleyes in in the evening has suckers moving around in it during the daylight.  would like to try one, at least.

The bones grind up fine when steamed or pressured cooked. In spring the meat is firm instead of mushy as in summer. Try to catch them from a clean creak or river. Suckers absurb what is on the bottom. A large one on a fly is a real challenge. Caught them from the Conneconnesing(sp), off of 19 in Zeli, as a kid with my Grandpa. His patties were great. Used red worms, watched for the slightess wiggle of the tip of the pole.

When I was a kid, Dad used to take us to spear suckers. Then he would put them in a smoker, they were awesome. Been wanting to this myself. This was also in the spring, in the Pymatuning area.
