Smallmouth out of North East??

Buddy of mine told me he heard a guy say they caught 15 smallmouth in 35FOW last night out of the North East Marina.. Is it too early? I don't know if I believe it. Boat is uncovered and tomo's weather is looking good I have the itch bad. What do you guys think? Water temp is only 39 at the moment.

    Capt. George, yinz need to talk to "Big Tuna", he's probably on PI right now knocking the hell out of Perch, Gills and, Crappie.

    Northeast holds smallies all year. 35 fow is probably a good depth to search right now.
    I would not look for any shallow fish yet.

    No tomorrow. I did get a 5lb small mouth in the bay last week. Proof of catch can be seen on Presque isle angler facebook under visitors also proof of perch catch. It wouldn't put it pass me that the bass are hitting,everything is early except Pymy eyes in the shallows,lol but I'd be willing to bet that will change by mid week.
