Last weekend - Football Fish pic

Despite all the negative reports late last week, my friend and I decided to make the hour trip up to do some exploring this Saturday.  We decided that if the conditions were as they said, we would simply do some exploring for new spots.  Well, that never happened!  We fished Elk Creek and ended up staying there all day for the best day I've ever experienced steelhead fishing.  Won't mention numbers because some wouldn't believe it anyway.  The water was high and stained, but the fish were certainly willing.  Most came on jigs tipped with maggots and egg sacks.  We both had our personal best days Saturday on Elk and fished virtually alone.  There were literally 6 guys fishing about a quarter mile stretch of stream.  This day was a true testiment to making a move based on a gut feeling and taking a chance.  It sure paid off.  Below is a fatty, football looking fish...just in time for the Superbowl!!  Tight Lines all.

I'd believe you aswell... Three of us fished on sunday and racked up absolute silly amounts of fish.  It actualy got a little to easy after awhile, some areas are just stacked.

yeah, sometimes when the main lake stays open the waves keep it open a short way up creek, looks like where you were fishing by the sand in the pic

Good observation Still.  However, Elk Creek was completely open on Saturday there was absolutely no ice other than on the banks of the creek in spots.  And with a SSW wind, the waves were headed in the opposite direction.
