if i could only have one color...it would be white

I've caught more fish overall  on white marabou  than any other color
Not just steelies either...all  species of fish from bass, bluegill, perch, walleye, northern, carp, suckers and even catfish.

White marabou with just a couple/three  strands (literally)  of  crystal flashaboo has   been one of my best producers "overall in general"

    old dog
gman, remember the old 'doll flies'?

I remember the name, but had to google it  to remember what they were...
    never tried them

in my  younger dayz,  I was more into chasing  the buzz than fishing....

I'd give up almost everything I have if I could go back to them days of the "doll fly"

Jigs are my lures of choice using hair, plastic or live bait.

Just this past spring I got back into tying my own hair jigs using buck and horse tail.

Mostly white hair, red thread and red or black head.

Not catching many fish on the darned things but I sure do have fun trying.🎃

What hooks do you use Old Dog ?

I heard nickel / cad are the ones to use (don't bend) on big fish.
I hear they are very hard to find in smaller sizes not sure .

I don't always bait fish, but when I do, I fish with nightcrawlers.

Most of the bait fishing I do anymore is for Suckers and Carp, but mainly fly fishing for every species with a mouth that's at least 2mm in diameter :). At the same time, every once in a while, I get the urge to sight fish for stockies with a redworm or crawler chunk, though, most of the time I'd be using a San Juan instead.
