When is best time to troll for steelhead in the lake and where?

    Early July through late August on the Trenches or Mountain for offshore fishing. Fish anywhere from 60-140 FOW. For nearshore/staging Steelhead troll in front of any trib mouths from mid-September through early April. Fish spoons, plugs, and flashers+flies at 2.5-5.0 mph, I catch most of mine around 2.8-3.5 mph.

    Wind for this weekend is looking sketchy but I'm hoping to get out to scout for early offshore chromers this Friday and hopefully (doubtfully) Saturday, I'll let you know how I do.
