DRONES

Here is a crazy thought.... anyone ever use a drone for casting a lure or bait?
Seems doable, just concerned the drone might not have enough power to "cast";   or suck up the line and get all tangled;  how would the lure be released without pulling the drone into the water;  and would it be too much to concentrate on?

Could you not rig it like we did balloons and kites? Fly where you want your bait, slight jerk to release, then fly drone back to you!

Pretty much that ^ though balloons/kites are way cheaper than your freshly crashed into the ocean drone.

Hefalump, Better yet. You could use your drone with a camera and fly over other fisherman to see what their secret bait is!!! Seems like a little drastic to improve you catch rate.  Merry Christmas.   Lou

Think of the money you could make... Make a drone that is water-proof and has a servo that can be activated to hold or release the fishing line. with a couple hundred yard range.

Radio controlled boats rigged with a trolling release is the way to get-r-done.

Or, have your buddy hold your crank bait on shore while you row to the opposite side.  Geez...... does everything need be sooooo hytech now-a-days???

If I had one of them there drones I'd fly them things up and dawn the criks spyin' on other fisher folk and lookin' fer good spots to fish that don't already have yinzers in em

Seriously though, I've thought about this before drones became popular. Would be sweet to watch the circus from home and see what the conditions are like haha. But if one of them started flying near me.....rocks will start flying!

OMG troutguy wouldn't that be a hoot latching onto some dudes line and taking him for a run downstream.

Then turn around and run em back up stream...........

    Haha that would be epic!

Remote control steelhead. You'll get the whole thing on film from the perspective of the fish......including the dragging around the parking lot and the photo op in front of Poor Richard's.

If that was a real thing that would be freakin awesome swimming it around the creeks and biting onto peoples' bait. 2098, the epic run of robot steelhead

salmon fishing early 80s someone tied a snap light stick to a salmon and released it late night down at Elk Creek access , pretty funny when it went upstream and the people were flipping out about a light moving through the water. I also knew a guy who would catch a walleye and put a 100 foot heavy mono string tied to a small milk jug tied through walleyes mouth . He would limit most of the time following the jug around !

Tried the remote boat, worked great till got caught in a bush and I could not back it out! No reverse, but lots of fun.

I used to do a lot of fishing in the outer banks.  at night the locals would come out...fill I big plastic bag with air..tie it..attach a clothes pin and put a giant wad of bloody meat on a big hook....then let the bag drift out to sea about 1/4 mile..pull like crazy and drop the bait to the bottom...I seen them catch some big sharks like this!  that was 30 years ago!
