Ive been using cabelas 8wt wf line with no issues. Just picked up rio steelhead line for a steal of $38 at dickssporting goods 2 weeks ago. See how that does real soon.

Weight forward floating line to match your rod.  Any decent line is fine.  Precision, long distance casts aren't really needed on Erie tribs.  On the east side, most fly rods can reach the other side of the creek without even castin g.

Like kjh & 5 mile Pete said, in eries small streams, your leader will be doing the vast majority of your casting. Assuming you're doing the typical indicator/nymph/egg thing, you'll rarely have more than a few feet of fly line out of your rod tip if you're doing it right. The more important question would be what is a good tapered leader setup for Erie tribs.

I take one of my old fly lines and turn it around and use the running line end. Most your fresh water lines never get used so they are like new on the other end. And like said you don't need much for Erie tribes.

Absolutely. I have used a six weight on the Erie tribs for years.
