Auxilary motor?

Has anyone used an adjustable jack plate and a steering tie rod in the same application?  It appears that it would work, just making sure to disconnect motors when raising or lowering either motors.  Am I missing anything that might make this not work properly?

This is going on a boat with a 21" high transom (straight across), with a long shaft main outboard and short shaft auxilary outboard.

This may sound dumb, but should the auxilary be on one side or the other of the main, or make no difference?  I'd imagine it would depend on anything being in the way, or length of control cables?

Thank you in advance,
PT

you have a few options. imo pay up the $$$ and get the "ez steer" setup. its not cheap, and without seeing your boat setup its hard to be sure, but if you space the motors out properly you should be able to adjust the motors as you see fit without disconnecting the adjustable rod.

as far as which side for the aux. motor, imo it depends on what setup you have. if youre using a tiller, place on whatever side is more comfortable. if you have a console, and the cables are long enough, put it on whichever side will disperse the weight the best. if you dont like the way you set it up, its no big deal to switch the motors around.
