Northeast Lakers??
Thinking about my first trip to try for lakers out of Northeast PA. I've fished Lake Ontario, are the techniques/trolling program same for Erie lakers? What would you say is the drop dead time go by---is the bite usually decent thru end of May???
Also...I couldn't find any Lake fishing reports on the fisherie reports page...is there another place these are posted these days? Another website...FB?
Thanks!

I got out for the first time Saturday for Lakers, We only landed 3 but other guys were doing better. We ran spoons only off of dypsys because that is what we had. A little more digging up info and we should do better. How long does the bite last?

My first trip looks like 5/23...hopefully lakers are still worth targeting by then. Or think id be better off going after bass or early walleye? Zippy---do you have downriggers? I think you should get your lures 10-20 ft from the bottom(?).

I would sure like to try for those lakers, however I have a small boat. I go out to about the 55 ft dpth for perch quite often. Is that deep enough off North East?

...its all about the water temp. Not depth.

The fish were in 56 fow last weekend which is less than a mile off of shore. No I don't have downriggers but will add flashers and fish a little higher in the water column. As far as 5/23 I would focus on smallies during the day and eyes at night.

Will be in Erie this upcoming weekend. With the warm temps, are the lakers still worth targeting? Or will they be moving to deeper water by then?

Down temp is still 39.5 degrees as of yesterday. We put 45 lakers and one steelie in the net yesterday and dropped another 12. They're not going anywhere for awhile.
