Prez,

I did not intend to imply that EPSFA was spearheading the stocking efforts of either organization. It was my understanding though that they helped build a consensus among all three to increase Brown numbers, and offered their support for both you, and 3CU. Spearheading that specific aspect.

I think that this idea is a great one. The only thing i wonder is that if they stock them in the spring. Will they go striaght into the lake or will they stay in the creeks and get caught once trout season starts. I also seen that some people are concerned about overcrowds and fishing pressure. Lets just be realistic there is going to be tons of people that will fish and its gonna be croweded in a lot of spots. The browns will just offer more of a variety. I think this is a great idea. The Browns would be awesome to catch.

let me get this straight. you have combat fishing for steelhead, and now they want to stock brown trout in the tribs. maybe they can lease you a spot to fish as well. it's gonna be elbows and a@*holes, bumping elbows with the person next to you and running into a@*holes all day.could they dump the fish into lake erie instead? might even be able to stock a larger size; i.e. less time to wait for a biggun. personally i can catch good sized browns here in central PA, just not the large rainbows(steelhead).

Very cool.
Hope more in 20 and Elk for the rich boys.
Maybe we will have to lock up some more access.

The goal is to stock the fish north of Rt 5 so they will head out to the lake.

Good idea. A place I fish in N.Y. stocks them in the lake. Some of them hang out in the harbor and stay there....even trying to spawn in the lake. Some show up as early as August. They are a BLAST to catch on spoons....

It seems that a large portion of the NY's Lk. Erie brown trout end up in the harbors.

Kenny is a "piker" at breaking stuff compared to me. I don't know if you could afford both of us.

Thanks for the kind words Spoony!  "Piker", I like it!

Dan, it might create more pressure to more east side streams, if thats where they decided they are gonna stock them. It could also take some fishing pressure off other streams as well, people that fish the streams are still gonna fish the streams. I dont see this bringing many new fishermen to the streams. I dont see any reason we couldnt have a good brown trout program to compliment the great steelhead program

Deer,

I believe we were at a point were crowd levels were starting to level if not go down. Many folks who made several long distance trips, are now saying "Yes it's great", "but I've been there, done that". With rising fuel costs, they may be inclined to make less trips as the novelty wears off.

With the introduction of a possible "trophy Brown" fishery, that trend may reverse at least temporarily. Don't get me wrong. I'm not worried, or bothered by that prospect ( I WANT others to enjoy the kind of fishing that I enjoy. ), and I can always find a place to fish. I'm just pointing out the possibilities.
