Minn Kota Trolling motor

Looking to buy a transom mount Minn Kota.
Will I have interference problems with my depth finder's transducer?

I haven't with a 30# and a 40# minn kota.  My transducer is on the opposite side of the transom from where I mount the motor though.

Are you asking about physical interference, EMI, or cavitation?  I don't have a problem with any.

It will be mounted on the same side as the transducer, unless I move the transducer, which I really don't want to do.

As long as you are not in the cone of the transducer signal, I think you should be fine.  While you are moving, you'll likely cause a bit more surface interference if they are really close.  If you are concerned about the trolling motor being electric, I don't think you have anything to worry about.  They make transducer mounts for the bottoms of trolling motors, so I would assume the electric motor itself, doesn't interfere with the signal.

That's where I ran one of my  transducer  on my trolling motor and never had a problem. When a or if you have bought one most come with a mounting bracket/BIG zip tie  for that exact reason. Just have to watch when your shallow or close to shore not to smash/rip it off

Ok, thanks for all the info.  Mounted it on opposite side of my 20hp.   Now, next dumb question  (I'm full of 'em)
Couldn't pass up a deal on an old MinnKota.  Figured I would play with it this year and if I like it, I would get a new one next year.   This one is only like 40lb thrust.
My question, being older (1995) It has the button that you press and then tilt it up.  Do I have to have the prop out of the  water when I am flat out with my Merc moving from location to location.  I thought about leaving it in neutral so the prop would spin, but will it damage the gears in side?  Simply put, do I have to haul this thing up out of the water when I am under normal power?  Again, thanks in advance for your info.

I do and have never had any trouble. What if you turn too sharp and clip it.  might ruin both. Minn kota has a pull string to put on that motor and lock it in place, which is whats on my 55 and its easy to pull that motor up

I'll have to look into it.  Doesn't have a string and I don't really see a place where one may have been.  thanks

Its a kit that minn kota sells with everything you need. It has a clamp that you put on the shaft next to the motor. If you find the kit it explains everthing. For me it is a life saver. I don't tilt my motor, just pull the string up comes the motor.
