Yough in Sutersville

Never fished it before. Are there any fish to be caught there? Carp? Catfish?

There's fish there. You just got to know where and how to catch them.

I'm not all too familiar with that stretch but up and down stream of there its pretty shallow in spots. If I were targeting carp and cats this time of year I'd maybe try the poop plant at the mouth of the yough.

Fishinguy, those are the only species I fish for. Where is this poop plant that you speak of?

Well when you fish near the mouth (by the poop plant). DON'T fish alone. Pack a piece too. It is a rough town. Lots of gang activity there. A friend of mine was murdered last year.

Sutersville is tough to fish.  Lots of silt, not fun to wade.  The best place to fish is near the riffles.  Not too tough to wade if your an experienced wader. Bass and trout can be had in the riffles.  Above the riffles for 400 to 500 yards or so is GREAT fishing if your targeting carp and cats.  Lots of Smallmouth as well but like I said earlier, its tricky to wade.

If you are going over the bridge in Sutersville, just downstream is a nice set of riffles.  Always guys out there wading when the water is right.

The area by the bridge and just upstream is a decent hole that as stated above, holds carp, cats and smallies.

    Definitely a tough neighborhood.

If you're looking for big carp & cats, easy access & friendly folks, try the Highland Park Dam.

Jug, I know a couple spots on the Yough in Connellsville that hold some nice carp. Caught a 23 pounder out of one spot last year. PM me.

Yough river carp sound like something I need to spend some time looking for. Seems like a great river for targeting them on the fly. Most of my fly fishing for them has been in smaller creeks and lakes to this point, it has proved to be difficult but very rewarding.

VERY rough area. Id pack TWO pieces for that region and Im not kidding. Be sure one is an AK47.

Yep, belt holstered main piece, ankle holster for the back-up, and an ak or ar strapped to chest with an at the ready sling.  Hopefully you are good at sidearm casts.....

I used to fish the poop plant pretty frequently as an unarmed teenager(about 10yrs ago). Only "riff raff" we ran into were other fishermen and a police officer once. Yinz are either very paranoid, or I had very good timing.

I am just going by the town. I have never fished at the mouth so I cant tell you if they bother you much there. Not sure if you guys are being sarcastic but, McKeesport is a dangerous town if you get yourself in the wrong area. A friend of mine was murdered last year. A half mile up river is a big area where they park and do drugs and sell them. People must fish it because I see where the bank has paths on it from people. As for the rest of the Yough, my niece and her fiancé floated it on Kayaks (not fishing though) and he said he seen tons of carp the whole trip down towards West Newton.
