superstition?

any diehard walleye trollers believe a full moon the night before adversely affects the next days walley fishing?  any truth to this or just superstition?

Yes it does. Walleye do a majority of there feeding at the first and last hours of the day. The full moon gives them more time to feed. The walleyes have a good visual advantage over the bait during these hours.
Yes the fish will have full bellys the next day. However, fishing is on fire right now. I'm sure you will find more than enough willing eyes.

I've had many slow days after a full moon with clear skies.  I usually like to get out when it is still dark and take advantage of the early morning bite.
I've heard that downsizing your baits in a situation like this can help.  The walleye don't want a full meal but they will still take a snack

Thanks guys.  The feeding aspect makes sense.  Someone had told me that the light of the full moon on the water spooks the eyes and shuts down the bite.  that really didn't make alot of sense to me with them being active predators, along with all the other predacious fish in the lake.  I know I don't like to deer hunt the morning after a full moon and didn't think the fish would be so spooked.

Eyes are an opportunity feeder.   Put a bait in front of it's nose and they will bite sometimes.  It's your job as a fisherman to make them bite.   Never let the full moon stuff stop me from fishing.  You may not catch big numbers but a few are all I need.

Worked with a fellow that targetted large trout in small streams and he loved to fish the full moon period using softshell crayfish.  He made some very impressive catches of trout over 20 inches from public stocked streams.
