Sun report

Fished the lower river all day Sun with a bill from utica fishing was on and off all day. I ended up catching one in the upper teens that gave me a 25 min fight and ended up landing it above the island on the lower staircase. I hooked her at the top of the pool she kept slipping back until she hit the rapids then she was gone. I opened the bail, and started after her. She went halfway down the rapids and stoped behind a rock and held for a miniute or two.after that I got her into a pocket and released her after a couple more short runs. Sorry no pics camera in my bag 150yds up stream. But we ended up me, with the float 5for 7 bill bottom drifting6for8.

There isn't much snow left on the ground flows shouldn't be that bad.

I highly doubt that one day can end all the snow???? I was there on Sat and there was plenty of snow all around as in everywhere...although I left at 3pm, and didn't see any signs of a rapid melt.....maybe with todays temps and tommorows then the snow will dissapear..which to me means run off...and plenty of it.....  its just my thought, don't take it personally!

Yea, There is still snow on the ground and plenty in the Tug Hill. So if you are coming from far away, better check the water flow. It would not surprise me at all to see the river at flood stage by the end of the week.

I'm trying for a Feb. trip even though I loathe the cold, but it's probably gonna be a March thing which sucks because that's when I fish the little black stone fly dries here at home. My favorite hatch of the year, and overlooked by most.
I wish those Steel up there would nose up. I'd be there much more if they did.

The sr is still fishable to 3000 or so. It will probably be at 1800 through the weekend. With Runoff expect 2200 - 2500. Just don't wade past your shins and fish the soft spots and areas with multiple seems.
