Presque Isle Ice
i was wondering if theres any ice on presque yet and if so how much...and if not when will u think there will be fishable ice...thanks

No ice on P.I yet. I am looking at Feb again this year for the ice to come. If not then let it get into the 70's and 80's so I can get the boat out

The bay does have some ice on it as of today -- mainly all the way up to the channel but I'm guessing it's not very thick at all and will probably be gone soon with the warm temps predicted.

i cant believe this, i get ONE day on the ice so far this year and were getting a warmup already...caught 2 walleyes in about an hour that day though..im dying to fish presque isle though...

Yea they did, hell of a bait shop and Joe was one hell of a guy. It was the perfect stop when going ice fishing. I dont support the greek, so I'll drive a few extra miles and go to Poor Richards. If your fishing off the city side, theres Smittys, right by the Dock and theres Presque Isle Angler at the foot of East Ave. Cant always rely on smitty because he wakes up whenever he wants to and opens the shop.
The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

hopefully this cold spell coming thru this weekend will last thru the week so we can get some ice fishing in. I love steelhead and all, but I am urging for some ice fishing right now.

Jim Smith (Smitty's) has been having alot of health problems. That is why he hasent been able to open on time. He is now closing the shop do to his health.

Ice fished the bay today hit the perch just west of the yacht club in 6 ft of water. We parked at the Summerhiem pumping station to cut down on the walk. The ice is a good 3 1/2 inches and the perch are good size. Not the best time to hit misery but ended up there at 1:00 and picked up some big crappie and a lot of small gills. Still making ice so the rest of the week will be good.

Thanks for the info andy. hope to get out on the bay friday once classes are over. your posts and info are great for me, i don't have much time to fish w/school and work and your reports give a good idea at to what the fish are doing and what locations are good.............

I may be wrong, but I would be pretty leary on the ice on the main part of the bay this weekend. If I remember correctly, there were patches of open water 2-3 days ago. Please use extreme caution out there. Hope to fish some protected ice this weekend. w_w.
If it has fins and gills, I'm there.
