Great report bdx... thanks. This helps a lot, most of our ice here in Capital District is shaky at best. Brant is on my "to do" list too, so I think I'll head up north this week.  Any problem finding a place to get on the ice on any of those lakes?

i havent fished brant yet this year, but i usually fish the back northern end . exit 25 I87 northeast rt.8 cross the southern end of the lake, not sure of the road name. rd. follows shore line to the north end. there is a small bridge with plowed parking next to it usually.  have had luck there in years past for rainbows and perch.      this year is the first on paradox, friend has a camp on the lake, but there is a state boat launch on the big end of the lake, also a state campground.     eagle lake is on the same rd. as paradox (rt.74 exit 28 I87) also has plowed parking on the right side of rt. 74. also there is a bait shop in the village of schroon lake. the owner is very helpful with info on ice conditions and catch reports . Yank, if your interested in trekking north this weekend, let me know. I'm free Sat, Sun, and Mon. Tuesday also, but I have to be at work at 11pm. Any lake is fine with me.

co worker went to Schroon sat with information from above said shop
report was 10" ice good fishing.......
when he got there the beach had no access (open water) but he was able to get on at fowler rd.
the first 3 feet of shoreline is shot (walk the plank)
there was 6 inches of good ice with snow on top
only bait he could get was shiners & suckers, icicles should be in next weekend
he lost 1 laker jigging at 80' and no flags on tip-ups
there were other anglers fishing as well

he told me the shoreline needs to tighten up before he goes back.
we may try Lake Eaton this sat....

Bobcat is full of it most of the time. He used to own a shop down in Westchester County (where I used to live). I learned many a time to not take his reports or advice seriously. A lot of people on iceshanty.com have the same complaints about his ice "reports".
