HA...No pics but through everyone up there, there was a 40" muskie,20" smallmouth, moster largemouth that got off of course, and a 17" crappie. And besides that we all caught a good amount of fish.

we usually hit glendale off and on,whenever sayers cools down. mostly for perch and crappie. no real catfish bite that we've found yet. a little before memorial day last year, a guy in a boat was catching walleyes just out of our reach. this was near the boat mooring area on the glendale h.s. side.

used to love to go to Glendale, then it got so crowded that it looked like the infield at a NASCAR race (with about the same crowd).

sayers i think is even worse, with it being so close to two universities, on some days it has more chinese than chinatown. man they keep everything, 6'' bass,5-6'' crappies, etc. amish are that way also, boy i hope they don't read this.

Fished Glendale this past Saturday. Ice was a solid 6". It was getting a little questionable along the edges in places. Got word of a guy going through the ice just off the shore (luckily only in 3 ft of water). We found safe entrance onto the ice at turtle cove at the base of the launch. I'm sure Sunday's weather didn't help the edges and the upcoming weather will most likely destroy the edges. If your going to go, hurry up and be careful.

I know it has been years since any non hybrid amur pike were stocked in there, but has anyone ever caught one? Even if it was years ago... If so post a pic, I am sure everyone on this forum would love to see such an unusual fish, even pics of a hybrid amur/northern would be interesting to see!

Bunches of ice fisherman today.  Tomm. the weather looks even more promising.  Found some perch. Those were the first fish I ever caught thru the ice and I really enjoyed myself.  I think that our tip up sets need some more work.  I am confident that they were set up over perch schools but they appeared untouched for hours.  The ice was in excess of a foot in some areas.  Most of the rest was 8-10"

Once the ice is off I try some perch and crappie action.  I have never caught a "big" fish out of the lake.  I have, however boated, with a partner, a couple of hundred crappies at night.  That was years ago and I have had a hard time in recent summers.

Two year old question, Travis, but here's a picture of one. Not a real closeup but the Amur is more silvery and less greenish than a northern or a tiger.

Not sure, this picture I believe was taken on the Amur River itself. I have not heard of anyone landing one at Glendale since about 2000. I don't think they are that plentiful up there. The other rare fish in that lake, the bowfin, the fish comm wants them all removed from the lake as they are very detrimental to other species.

You cant remove bowfins from any pa waters.....they are a candidate species, the Fish Commision encurages you to release them...there are some uninformed officers out there though, I was at Black Moshannon a while back and was talking to a Park Ranger while I was night fishing and I was telling him that I caught a nice bowfin a week earlier and his exact words were "well did you throw it up on the bank, we dont want them in this lake", I then informed him that they were a candidate species and he argued with me for a while then left, about 20 minutes later he arrive back to apologize to me, he said he visited the fish commission web site and seen that they were in deed a candidate species....see below......

Thanks sculpin, evidently I was victim of the same misinformation.   I was told the bowfins were a voracious killer of other fish.

Here is a nice webpage on the Bowfin:

Any recent reports from Glendale?  Is the crappie bite still on?  How about eyes?  Anyone picking up any.  Heading up to the inlaws this weekend and will be checking out Glendale and some of the other local waters.

Also, how is Glendale producing and is there any area to shore fish from? My girlfriend said maybe try up there in the first week of June.
