this is from an insect emergence chart for a lot of P.A. streams
blue-winged olives #16-18 (parachute style are easier to see also i don't  use wings on anything smaller than 14's. they'll tend to spin my tippet if
      they're not tied correctly)
    blue quills #16-18
    quill gordons #12-14
    grannom #14-16
hendricksons #14 and i use #12 in faster water and for smallmouths
    olive caddis #14-16
this should do from about april to the end of may depending on weather conditions
    may starts;
    sulphurs #14-16
    tan caddis #14-16
    March browns #12
    grey foxes #12-14
greean drakes #8-10 near the end of may
don't be affraid to use 1 size larger in fast water, the fish do not have too much time to inspect the dry fly and it's easier for them to see as well as the fisherman

Caddis, caddis and more caddis.  Then some select mayflies.  Gotta use the nymph box for dries now.   C'mon, who nymphs for trout during the spring.

Its the only way to roll when you fish crowded streams that have jackers flopping through the water like Clydesdales every 10 minutes

What are no hackle's, I mean I figured out that they have no hackles but do you have a picture.

May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it.

no hackles are for slow water fishing. they have wings but don't use the wound hackle to help them float.

Ive fished them in some pretty fast drifts, you gotta really watch the tippets and mends though cause they sink quick if there's any drag. One other bad thing is they look so **** real its hard to tell which one is yours in a heavy hatch.

Try adding a little piece of cdc with the wing in your no hackle.  It will float even better.  In fact I tie most of my dries with cdc because you can crank em' out pretty fast.  Helps when you need a dozen before you head out the door.

You tie that in ontop like an emerger bubble or what? Or are you tying it in with the quils?

I tie a ton of cdc comparaduns for each mayfly hatch. They only take a minute or 2 to tie and work very well, even in fast water. I tie a lot of caddis with a cdc wing also.

Something I like a lot about cdc, is that you can dry it off simply by pressing it into your t-shirt, then blow on it to fluff the feathers.

I usually take one or two feathers for each wing and cut them the shape of the wing.  The profile doesn't change much if the cdc is sparse, but it still floats better with it than without it.  I know you don't need, or sometimes shouldn't use floatant with cdc, but I like a little Frogs Fanny on em'.

    Well, not exactly, Dave.
TT won em but they got sent to me by accident.
He ended up getting one of the two sets I won.
So we're going to arrange a little swap sometime soon.
Nice flies too. Its going to be hard to give em up.
    Mayflies, caddis, terrestrials. Hmmm......
