2007 Fred Bear "The Truth" Bow...need info

I just walked into a great deal for a 2007 Fred Bear "the truth" bow.  Its new in the box and I wont say what I paid but it is well under $300 which I thought was a great deal so I bought it to finally upgrade my 1993 pse im hunting with.

Does anyone have or have had one, and are you happy with it?  If so, any setup ideas that are working currently for you.

Any info can help, this is my first trip into the single cam and parlell limb area.  Hell my bow right now actually has real "cables".

i would love to shoot that bow. i was considering buying it.  i have the 2006 fred bear code and i love it. i have a drop away rest on it, string leaches, limb savers, rubber nocking points, brass nocking points, a kisser button, peep sight, and im shooting maxima 350s  thats what i would set it up as. i get 278 fps out of my code. from the movies you can watch on beararchery.com that new truth is niiice

The only thing I may do different is get a D-loop instead of the nocking points.  A drop away rest is a big improvement, if you haven't gotten one already.  If you paid less than three hundred, you got a real good deal.

OMG it came today and it is BEAUTIFUL.....I drew it back and it was like holding back air.....4.2 lbs and 33 inch axle to axle with all the antivibration (Limb savers, string leaches, and dampers on the limb mounts) already installed........

I most likely wont have time to set it up till after christmas but I think im gonna sleep next to it tonight if I can get the wife to hit the couch.....

Man, I love it.  It's so much smoother and faster than my old PSE. And it is seriously quiet!  I dont upgrade archery stuff very often, usually I wait until the technology really changes, so this is like a new world for me.  You could do a lot worse than this bow.

Hunting the last two weeks of archery, I took a morning off.  I think it was real windy, rainy .. I was beat.  I ended up coming across Maximum Archery on TV, where Andy Ross was the host.  Seems like a straight up guy to me.

I really would have liked an opportunity to shoot a Ross before I bought mine but being left handed and Mathews being the most popular (at this shop at least), that's what I shot because that's what they had available.   Not that there is anything wrong with mine, I couldn't be happier, but I like shooting bows too, not just hunting.  I wouldn't buy shooting I couldn't toy with for a bit.

Going from my old PSE thunderbolt to a new mathews last year was quite an experience for me too.  As I said before, bows are made far better than they need to be.  Though I do feel that technology could be headed in a direction that one could consider today's bows a little advantageous (is that a word ? lol) in archery hunting.  I spent my very beginnings shooting a recurve.  I just may end up back there for no other reason than the challenge.

    oh well.

mak, you can't go wrong with that bow.

I will agree that most bow companies make a very good bow. I was asked by one of my friend's parents to get a bow for him for christmas. They gave me $500 and said to get him something that I feel is a good setup. I got him a pse litespeed package for around $400. Its a good shooting bow, at a good price. I also shot the new mission archery bows (made by mathews). I thought they were a fine bow, but no better than the pse, and they cost more.

I killed my first deer with a jennings buckmaster about 8 years ago. Since then, i've owned 3 different bows. I've killed a few deer with each of them. Each one of the bows i've owned were a little faster, and a little smoother than the previous ones. The bowtech I have now is the smoothest and fastest i've owned, and cant see bows getting much better, but who knows what they'll come up with in the future.

The only thing I can say bad about Ross is that demand swamped supply, so delivery times were horrible.  It's not a problem if you want a right handed 70 pound Cardiac with a 29 inch draw, but if you want anything less common, you have to wait.  And wait.  I ordered a left handed CR334 and it took like 4 months to get.  I think if I had ordered the holy grail at the same time, I would have gotten that sooner.

While I was looking, I checked out a Mathews Drenelin, and it felt real good too.  I've never heard much bad about mathews.  I have to agree with the guy who said that most bow companies make a quality bow these days.

I bought a new Martin Cheetah, its every bit as nice as the bowtech I shot with half the price tag. You buy a bow from a decent company, youre getting a **** good bow these days. Will be a long time before I buy another. I think now that Im in that 300 range, ill wait till they hit 500 before I get another. Hell by then we prob wont even be aloud to hunt.
