HELP W/ Magni Braid Line for trollin Eyes

In the past I've used exclusively Power Pro 30lb test followed by an 8ft piece of 20lb fluorocarbon to barrel swivel / lure . It has the same diameter as 8lb mono and gets the dipsys down pretty deep. I am beginning to have too many trolling poles ( if that were possible ) to afford the Power Pro . Has anyone used the Magni braid from Off shore angler ? I do know the magni 30 lb test is same diameter as 10lb mono but I don't know how much this will affect my trolling depth by switching ; the line could be flatter than Power Pro ????? Won't get down as far ????? Any help with this decision will be appreciated . The cost of 1,500 yards of Power Pro is $115.00 compared to the Magnibraid  2,500 yards @ $110 . Thanks , DC

Thanks for checking out this topic. Don't need any help as I found some proven line at Cabelas bargain cave . Using Cabela's ripcord SI Plus 20lb test / equivilent to 5 lb mono. Picked up 1000 yds for $33.00 that is regularly $95.00 . That will be enough to put 600 ft on each of my 5 dipsy diver poles . This will get my offings to the Walleye Gods EVEN DEEPER this year. Tight lines DC

you use a leader to your dipsy diver????

1500 yrds of line should take care of about 5 reels (alot more if u just fish walleye).  Put on backer line then space it out with electrical tape then spool on 300yrds of braid. Top the spool out so the line counter measures properly...If you fish salmon tie a connection from backer to braid or use more braid for those long spoolers...

some of the Magni braid is dacron alot cheaper than power pro with about half the life.  Dacron is prone to dryrot and break at a much lower lb # than advertised.  Make sure its braided Spectra or Dynema.  These materials last a very very long time.  I have reels with line on them that is 6 years old and still going strong.  Powerpro is no different than anything else on the market...its just advertised.  The magni braid stuff looks like a good deal to me...thank you for bringing it to my attention.

    NO,
the braid straight to the dipsy . Then a 10 ft 20lb P-line fluro leader to harness. Thanks for the advice . Spectra & dynema I will go with. I only put on about 200 yards of the 20lb cabela's rip cord on each pole to strech it out but I did put 150 ft of 30# test old dacron underneath it ( I made that mistake last year). That link that Marty gave me has 500 yards of Power Pro for $40.00 not too bad a deal. I might be going to Olcott in August and probably should have went with 30lb and 300 yards on each ; but I could'nt pass up 1000yds for$33.00 of the rip cord ( I believe it's dynema ) 20# rated to 5 lb mono equivilent. Last year I seen those kings rip out 150 yards trolling with herring meat / spin doctors. All takers came off the riggers so if that stays consistent I'll be fine . I hook one on a dipsy could be close to running me dry with 250 yards on my trolling rigs???? Oh I am going to be offering custom walleye harnesses soon w/ double willow or indiana blades. I have about 30 different patterns I will post some pics when I get em all complete. The finish is alot more durable than the mass produced ones in custom colors. I hand snell these with 20lb p-line fluoro looking good.

Real nice there CB . Here's some I made . I believe yours look a bit nicer . I don't think I did too bad considering I just started . The finish is alot more durable than the store bought . I use a thick clear coat.

Dream Catcher,  I've had Magibraid (Spectra) on my trolling rods for 4 years and have had no problems with break offs from Kings or steelies. You can get 2500 yds from Bass Pro for $125. Running a large dipsey on 1 setting you can get that 30Ib Magibraid down to 58 fow. I know a charter captain out of Rocky River OH that's had Magibraid on for 5 years with no problems. He'll runs 60+ trips a year. I've found that the Palomar not works best with that Magibraid. The 12 Ib Magibraid works good for drifting for bass because of it's abrasion resistance or feeling light perch bites because it has very little stretch.
