Walts Worm/Cranefly Larvae

I figured I would put up a little information on this often overlooked fly.

The walts worm is a generic pattern that is most known for imitating the cranefly larvae.

SIMPLE TIE
Hook: 14 2x long
Dubbing - Hares Ear(natural)
Ribbing - Mono

Tie in the shape of a cutoff cigar! That simple

I prefer my cranefly larvae to be like the following. I do NOT use these colors, I use natural, with a dark brown head. My tailing also is just like a hares ear nymph!!!!

The next time your on the stream and having trouble taking fish, try one of these patterns. Craneflys typically hatch between late april and the beginning of july.
