kicker Prop Question

I am adding a 20-hp Merc 4-stroke kicker to a 18.6 ft boat to get around the 20-hp lakes plus to help out with trolling. Never had a kicker. What is the best prop to go with, 3 or 4 bladed. Any tips on pitch as well. The boat weighs about 1800 pounds loaded up. Thanks!

For what you will be using it for, you will find very little difference in preformance between number of blades and pitch.

I have a 25hp for my main power on my small boat, I have tried 5 different props and did good documenting of every 500 rpm on speed and when on plane and how they handle. All were within +-5% of each other, while the four blade solas had the best all around preformance.

Since i doubt you will be planing out and have high speed runs, I believe you will not notice any real "seat of your pants" difference in any prop.

But if you do not have a prop for the motor, (some motrs are sold with no prop) I would buy a 11 pitch 4blade Solas.

Since the motor will only push that hull at displacement speeds, a four blade would be what I would go with too.
