Buy the deep cycle battery with the longest warranty.
more reserve min= more run time=higher price

I got the Minn koda terova 36 volt 100 pound thrust. After talking to many people I went with the Sears platinum 31 group deep cycles. They are kick****!!!!!! I have been out 4 times and used the Minn koda for the spot on anchor mode and used it to troll with big boards and I'm still at 75% charge. Don't skimp on cheap batterys you would be sorry. They are great.
O ya, another thing. Make sure. You use #6 copper wire and a 60amp I'm line fuse. The proper wire size will also give you better performance and longer battery life. I only know this because I am an electrician by trade.
One more thing. Sears recommends that you only charge your deep cycles once you are at 25% charge. If you charge them when they are not drained down, they will retain a charge memory and limit their charge and output ability.

    I hope this helps.
