starter bow

A buddy of mine was thinkin about askin Santa for a bow this Christmas. He has 3 bows now but their basically the 1800s special, very old. I was just wonderin to help him out if any of you fellas could recommend a good starter bow. He's 17 and can probably handle a bigger bow so the little 40 lb junior bows are outta the question lol.

If you looking for something affordable, A buddy of mine just bought one of those Fred Bear bows at gander mountain.  I think he only had $300 or $350 in It and I was impressed on how smooth and quiet it shot.  But then again, I shoot a 1993 PSE Carrol II Intruder so a 44 magnum is quiet by my standards. The bow seems to be really adjustable too. for draw length etc.

Ron, Is he big enough to pull 60#? I'm going to sell my used Mathews FX, RH, 60-70#, has a brand new string and cable, Quickie quiver, 6 new Carbon Express Camo Arrows(cut to 29 1/2")easily shortened, and a Golden Key Platinum Premier rest..with some Sim's products also. I've had the bow for 5 years, shoots well. Let me know I can make the kid a good deal..Only reason I'm selling is I'm looking at a new Bow Tech 101st airborne screamin eagle..IBO 320-340fps..                                    Bing..

Ronnie; The diamond black ice would be a good choice. They are very nice for the money. About $300 and it is loaded and set up for the most part. I was going to buy one when i torn my bicep and didn't think i would be able to pull my hoyt. I shot  one and it was smooth and quite.  GOOD LUCK AND SHOOT STRAIGHT   DAVE

Last year I purchased a new "vital impact" bowtech from Sportsmans Warehouse in between Butler and PGH....
It came with a whisker biscut and and a decent TRU GLO sight. To my recognition I paid around 450 dollars for the bow, a case, a scotts mini goose release and half a dozen Gold Tip carbon arrows

Ronnie send me a PM I have just what your buddy is looking for.  It is a Fred Bear that has never been hunted with. Not real sure of the model but I do believe it is a buckmasters edition.  It is fully equiped.  New String, sight, rest, quiver, release, six arrows, broadheads, soft case.  I am willing to sell for around $200-175 with everything.

I started into archery hunting three years ago but I found out that with my job archery just isnt an option.  Not enough free time to be in the woods to pattern deer and to be a quality archer.  So my stuff is now for sale.

I am also going to be selling my tree stand too.  It is a summitt climber that may have been used 8 times at the most.  Any interest PM me.

    I am in Monongahela.
