Focus -- Actually, the problem was water on the lense. It really screwed up what would have
been better pictures.

sweet pics i would love to catch those. That coho is nice
do you think if i went and fished oak orchard over thanksgiving break that i could still catch salmon. I know this year the run is late...and it will be my first time ever fishing up their...

yes, you can still catch a salmon in the Oak. But, it will most likely be very old and will not put up a fight, you will be able to pull it right in. PLEASE DO NOT EAT ONE!

In 4 days, we only spent a couple of hours at the Oak.
Too many people, and not many fish.
Overall, there were fewer Cohos than I remember and more Browns.
I'm sure someone will disagree, but, for me, I caught 10 times more
Browns this year and only a few Cohos.
Burt dam had Cohos at the dam pool. Very few below because of the rippers.
I didn't see a single Coho on the Oak.

actually... you problem isn't water... you are using auto focus...this feature will look to focus on the center of your composition... also you lens doesn't have the short focal-length to work on shots with a subject as close as the fish.. you're other pics in the pic thread are fine... except the 2nd where, do to low light, there is a longer exposure... combined with a long lens (zoom) and a shaky hand leads to the unsharpness... not dumping on you...hell i didn't catch anything all weekend just my 2 cents...

Don't know about the Oak specifically, but I think I saw a new tippet class record Coho out of there on another board a few weeks ago. A 22# or 25# coho as I recall. As for spring in NY waters... There are TONS of coho around the Niagara Bar in the spring. We did 20 something 'hos one May morning with regular size spoons and a Howitzer rig. I think the warmer water temps on the south shore cause a problem similar to what we had in PA when they still stocked Coho. The Canadian side sees a far better return from what I understand

Yeah, there was monster 'ho caught this fall, I think it was in the Salmon River.
This year we found fewer Salmon and more trout on all the Western Ontario Tribs.
Every year we go there, we are amazed by how revered the Steelhead is. The folks
who fish up there regularly are absolutely thrilled when they catch a steely. It amazes
us because there are big beautiful Salmon swimming around and they get excited
over a 20" Steelhead. Guess we are spoiled fishing in the Erie Tribs.
You guys are right about the pics. But my camera is old duud. It's a 10 year old digital.
They didn't have many options back then.
