How many guys have picked up the centerpins?

Ive been fishing a centerpin for a little over 7 seasons now.  Fishing new york is where I picked up the setup seeing guys use them on the cat and being able to drift 100+ yards and still stick fish.  Granted theres almost nowhere in PA that u have the opportunity to do this but every once in while it comes in handy.  Just curious seeing more and more guys fishing them in PA now.  I fish them on some of the bigger trout streams and they work well for this.

Got one at the end of the season last year and have yet to use it. Although Scott CR500 and Racin Ray gave me a short course I haven't put it to use yet.  Yet's the key word here. Soon, the other key word. Dave

Well all I can say is once u pick one up it is hard to put it down.  Its probably the as close as you can get to using a fly rod spinning rod combo.  The drifts are superb when coupled with the long rods and control over the fish when fighting them is unmatched.  Good luck w your pin!

I think the Centerpin would be perfect for Smallies on the Yough.

You will find a centerpin and float hard to beat in any moving water.  Rivers, creeks and even moving salt water.  I use a centerpin on saltwater channels every summer.  I was hoping to put a striper on a centerpin this summer of fall but I just couldn't get to the cape this year.  A centerpin is very effective in moving water it doesn't care what fish are in that water.

Centerpin fishing is in a world of it's own. It's like anything else if you don't give it a try you don't know if you will like it. But once you get the hang of it i think that you will love it.......i do alot of fly fishing here back home but i have to say that i rather have a pin in my hands any day if i had to choose,,,,i have spanked the fly guy's every time i have fished with the this year so far  on the tribs in  Erie honestly not trying to sound arrogant or anything just the god's honest truth. p.s i love it when they get mad ha,ha,ha, but anyways it's all what you like and what your comfortable with, alot of things go into pinning, shotting your line, floats, swivels, proper depths to float, different size floats, gram in shot size ect,,,,,check out a site call www.questoutdoors.com that might get you a better understanding somewhere along the line my friend,,,,or if your from Erie i be glade to get together with you have a pin day if you like....let me know,,,centerpin_dude,,,,,,,
