Poestenkill 4/5

The weather was cold and windy but the fish were friendly.  They'd clam up after about 5-6 views of a lure, but would strike anything new you threw at em. C & R 'd 7 small browns, with a few more getting off on the way in. Small stickbaits, Roostertails and Mepps all worked. Nothing big but lots of action for an hour and a half.

Anybody fished the Kinderhook and could give a report?

i live on the lower end of the kinderhook where it meets the clavarack and becomes the stockport before joining the hudson (phew)
    anyhow:
it is to high to fish, even the upper sections in lebanon and stephentown are high, fast and cold
stocking has not taken place there yet
i'd say about 2 more weeks.
however imo the kinderhook creek sucks as a fishery....

a friend who lives on the poestenkill said it & the battenkill were stocked this week with bucket fillers out in force
i hate when a good stream is stocked so early.

someone here also asked about pond fishing in LG area
i am a NYS licensed guide and will be making wilderness trips in that area as well as Saranac area early may (or when the ponds open up)
while i will not post any names or specifics i will keep everyone updated
    on conditions

any other questions please PM me

    P.S.
thanks to you folks for starting this forum about the Eastern NY

    Tuna-

Thanks for the info on the Kinderhook. .. you don't seem a very big fan of it.  I've fished it a few times but never had any great success (probably due to the fisherman).  I was thinking of Malden Bridge, I was there once last year, and it looked like a nice spot but it was real high then too.  I would like to find a place with some holdovers, the stockies are dumb and don't even taste good in my opinion.
Sounds like you're in a good spot for stripers in that area... Yowsah- I can't wait for them to get up here.  Thanks again and good luck

Malden Bridge: rt 66 is 15 min. from my home
Rory Block (famous blues player lives at the bridge there )
the trout fishery..... very lame..... (smallmouth& fallfish is better)
personally i only fish there when the summer heat drive the fish to the o2 water in july
    why ?
they stock the trout late april and they never leave the bridge(s) unless bucketed out or until the water (o2) level makes them move
and by mid july i'm lookind at chillin and walking home water

    better water east,west & NORTH
    unless your warm water fishing
