Freezout Ice Conditions 02/23/11

Ice looked good off the stinkhole for this Saturdays Freezeout. Approx. 12" of hard solid ice as of noon today. It was very slick in some spots so I would bring your cleats if your have them. There was some crackin and popn from the sun and a few large cracks near shore but nothing to worry about. Temps are to be above freezing from Thursday through the weekend during the day but the ice should be ok.

    Thanks for the info! Hoping to make it, but see on Randy's report they're calling for freezing rain and sleet Friday. Hoping to spend the night at camp so no big drive early. Don't mind snow, but don't go when ice is being called for.

    Chech the weather forecast 5 to 7 up to 9 inches snow with freezing rain for thurs nite and friday. I may pass on the freezout on sat too far to travel in those conditions.

    This mornings local weather said mixed 1-3" possible today and 2-5" through friday morning. Could be less could be way more this time of year. Everyone just pay attention to the weather.
