Presque Isle Bay ice quality and fishing reports

Could one of our forum members take a drive around Presque Isle and to Chestnut Street Marina to give a report on the ice thickness and safety? Also, would appreciate some "scouting" reports on how the fishing is going, what seems to be sucessful, and the locations (not exactly) of where the fishing seems best (e.g. second parking lot, middle of bay, off of this pint, etc.). It has been so quiet. No reports of activity or success. The big boats are coming into the bay this week and may disrupt the ice. But, but I would still like to go out on Friday. Need to know if it is worth it. Thanks to whoever can do some recon for Presque Isle Bay. Would like to see some regular reports by our members. I will ceratinly contribute.

I have been posting reports pretty regular. I was out quite a bit after deer season up til that dreadful New Years weekend of rain and heat. That set everything back for a couple weeks.

The ice has been less than I am totally comfortable - a lot of 3 to 5 inch places, none thicker.

I've hit Woodcock and Lake Pleasant, Misery Bay, the Marina, Stinkhole, off Chestnut and off the Convention Center.

I have had two decent days - one of 14 perch of Chestnut, and another of about 8 or 9 nice perch and as many big bluegills at Stinkhole, both times around Christmas.

I fished Stinkhole Monday and caught 3 tiny perch and a nice largemouth.

I plan on going out Friday, probably Stinkhole or Chestnut. If the poor fishing persists, its Lake Simcoe next week for me! From what I've been reading they are off to a very good start this year.

canoemale....fished yesterday at stinkhole and didnt catch a fish...whole area loaded with shad...about 20 huts on ice when i arrived and within 2 hours was down to 3 (including me)...drove to misery and talked to the only guy on the ice for about a half hour and he caught 1-4" perch so i went home...thinking about pymatuming this weekend as the reports from there seem better than the reports for the bay...if you are going to simkoe, please post a report...the last time i went it was dead, dead, dead
    hope this info helps

If you're going North, try Couchaching (sp?), its connected to Simcoe, much better perch fishing there (at least last time I was there), If fishing Simcoe, 4get the perch and go after the Whitefish and Lakers out deep. Hit the shallow waters and jig for gators as well. Don't 4get the auger extension, you might need it. Last time we were there I had ours burried to the handles, 1-2 more inches of ice I would have wished we remebered the extension.

Hellow fellow fishermen and women, Alaskan here. I going to venture out tomorrow, I am leaning toward 2nd or 3rd parking lot tomorrow, I been hearing stink hole has shad, no good at Misery and I don't know how the ice is off chestnut. I heard a guy went in on Sunday or Monday off chestnut. What a different year this year compared to last.

I have been waiting for safe ice off the 4th parking lot...I have some honey holes out there marked on my GPS. Hope the shad haven't overtaken that too.

fishing has been hit or miss with perch, this week I've been enjoying crappie fishing around boat docks in the marina. switch spots often if your not getting a bite it seems once you get one you get a bucket full

Fished in the evening off of chestnut on 2-2-11. About 9 FOW. Bite was very slow, only caught about a dozen perch between the two of us with just a few being keeper-size. Anyone have suggestions on where to try this weekend?

ATV's were out there last Sat. off of Chestnut, We were sitting on 14"...I seriously considered driving my Mountaineer out to drag our hut back in but my brother talked me out of it. We will be heading out tomorrow around 12:30. If you're around, look for the red truck pulling a big wooden trailer...you can pull us out to the honey hole

found the wco report, they said 7-8 inches of ice in most areas, still thick enough for an atv and a few people so, fish on!
