It is my belief through observation only the bucks move less frequently during the day but more in the morning / evening when it is windy ( during chase phase of the rut ). As for the other stages it's anyones guess ; it's all porportional to the buck / doe ratio in your particular area. I believe the ideal condition for any hunting any situation is a crisp blanket of leaves so that the deer feel more comfortable during thier movements ( with minimal wind ). I have caught a number of bucks moving in the wind first week of November ( especially close to dusk). Hope that helps .

As stupid as they get during days leading and into the rut I personaly have never seen a shooter buck moving when the wind is blowing and swirling unless it was pushed as in rifle season.have seen lesser young bucks on the prowl but the 3 plus year bucks still have a little sense to not move as much..But....If I can only get out on certain or a few days to hunt you can bet wind and all I'll be up a big tree hanging on just in case I am wrong.Ray

I have never done any good on windy days, that goes for shooting deer and seeing deer.  When its windy half the time I dont even go.  Tuesday was one of those windy days and I was not able to hunt that day.  My buddy was out in the morning and he said he saw 7 different bucks and had 4 different bucks chasin the same doe.  When there chasin anything can happen I guess.

Ditto.  I'll still go, but end up still hunting into the wind.  Stand hunting on windy days has never produced for me.

If a doe is hot, a tornado could come thru and it wouldn't matter.  What ever that doe does, the buck will do.  She moves, he moves.  Dad had a mature buck come up this a.m.  I had a spike chasing a doe underneath me as well.  The wind was howling at about 30 and the snow was blowing.

Ahhhh.  There's your key.  Snow.  At least for my experience, snow changes EVERYTHING.  Just when you think they'll hold up, they show up when you're (I'm) fumbling for warmer gloves.  When you guess they're gonna be looking for high energy food, they're bedded down tight.

Low wind and snow in the overnight forecast, and fresh rubs all over the place today.  Tomorrow may be the day...
