Can you ID?

Hey waterfowlers....thought I'd ask someone more knowledgeable than myself...
I've seen this flock of birds all this week at a local lake...
Not sure what they are. I've looked at a couple waterfowl ID websites, but not exactly sure.
If it's any help, they dive & eat fish.
Any ideas?

And before someone jumps the gun, NO, I'm not hunting them...
just enjoy bird watching.

Hmmm, I don't have the slightest idea.  I should but I don't.  I couldn't find anything on www.ducks.org/waterfowl-id either.  Anyone else have an idea?

Them are Still chicks. I've seen Yinzer brats wearing scarves just like that outside Heinz Field...

I actually ate one of them years ago when I still hunted duck. To me it tasted about the same as a duck does. Not bad.

water chickens. they taste like chic, er, dux. bread them with mud before baking. as dave said, some do eat them, especially in new england where they use them in a stew. myself, i would think they taste like a merganser.

you know they are nasty when the dog won't even retrieve them.  both mine and my buddies dogs won't retrieve them until we yell at them enough and they just want us to shut up.  mine has never had a problem retrieving anything until the coot.
