Have to disagree about that. If you know the lake, crappies can be caught all year. They dont stop feeding in the summer. Guys just stop fishing for them when it gets tougher to find them. Get a lake map and study it. Look for the areas where they spawn, then look for dropoffs close by, with wood or rock nearby. The crappies will suspend over that open water. Also look for blowdowns that are over or near deeper water. There's fish in those trees. May be bluegills, but there's fish in those trees. Use small jigs tipped with maggots or nibbles and you should get enough for a fishfry.
