You'll have success on pretty much any generic trout pattern as of right now, namely egg patterns.

    As the bird fly,s?
You have to go south to 80 west, get off at Mercer, go south on 19 to Volant exit.
    About 30 miles.

    Mikastorm,

I can tell you don't live in the area so why are you offering bad directions?

From the Grove City exit of I-79 (which what he asked) you go west on rt 208 to rt 19, turn left about 500 feet, then turn right (still on rt 208) to Volant.  Turn right at the bottom of the hill (at the stop sign) and the shop will be on your right just after you cross the creek.

About 5 miles or so, just as I said!

P.S.  There is no "volant exit" on rt 19!

Now, if you were in Mercer you could take rt 19 south to rt 208 west, unless you knew the shortcut through amish country!

Not a problem but if you're in Sandy Lake, you would take Rt 62 into Mercer then Rt 19 south to Rt 208 west to Volant.  Still no exit off Rt 19.  In fact there are no exits off the state route, just turns!

I haven't heard lately but there are almost always fish at the dam or just behind the fly shop, rain, shine or even snow!

Here is the shops website.  You could call them or just sign up for their newsletter.

    Enjoy!

There are fish throughout the entire DHALO section right now. Most will fish behind the fly shop because it's the most convenient and always holds fish, but if you want more solitude there are fish to be had downstream.

The rain we got last week improved the fishing but the creek has since dropped and become clear again. This precipitation we are currently getting will bring it back up and, depending on the amount, give it color or blow it out. After a big rain the creek will become high and muddy and usually take two to three days to fish.

The creek conditions are updated twice daily.

Neshannock should fish well the next few days for the water we received.  It's my home waters so I know the creek pretty well.  You can start by the fly shop and work your way down.  Or park by the railroad car shops and walk down the old train track road.  Just jump in where it looks promising.  If you end up by the gas line, go upstream to a large boulder where the stream makes a right hand turn.  Fish right at the boulder.  Fish stack up their.

Fished it this afternoon for about an hour, decided to take the 20 minute hike down to the big rock, caught a couple for my 'troubles'. The creek is in great shape with a little ice on the edges of the slower pools...I figure that will be gone by next week.

Fish the holes with a big Black Wolly Bugger with just a little Pearl Flashabou tied in. Second choice would be a big Stonefly Nymph.
