Usually the season starts the last saturday in april.  So maybe it is a little late this year.  Not gonna complain.  Went out tuesday morning to listen and the birds were gobblin good.  Owl hoot didnt even get taken out of my pocket. Havent seen the birds driving around like I usually do but they are there in the roost at the places I have permission to hunt. Come on May 1!!

Lot of longbeard action here this week.......Last year the youth hunt was the same day as the trout opener. This year they wanted to to include memorial day weekend in the season.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

Most of the gobblers I've been watching are already henned up. I wish the season was a week or two earlier.

Maybe by the time the season starts, the gobblers will be out on the prowl again.

I hope so...if you tone you're calling down and get lucky you can call them off a hen sometimes. There is a lake I fish by my house where I've been watching a few and I love watching them strut. What a rush. There seems to be a lot of Gobblers this year which surprises me after the bad winter we had.

A very good morning of scouting today.I thought i knew where these birds would be but they fooled me they where on the other side of the field.I walked down there to try to get to hear exactly where they were.I heard another one on the other side where i thought they would be.I decide to go see if i could see where he would fly down.At 6:36 i heard a hen fly down then about ten minutes 2 lb's were ripping there heads off(gobble very very well on roost also).I heard the hen start clucking then she went nuts with aggressive yelps and cutts. The lb's where down where i would of been an they where ready to go anwsering ever call she made.I figure if it goes down like this saturday my daughter tag should be filled at 6:50 but we all know it will never happen like that again.Good luck to everyone and be safe.
