Ice Spawn?

Got done tyin 3 doz sucker spawns for a buddy of mine and as I was going through them.....thought I'd try something a bit different on this - although it's hard to improve on this pattern Anyway - I seperated the three strands of yarn, attached each strand individually to a hackle pliers, hung it off my vice and dubbed on the strands some pearl ice dub. Then tied as usual. Never fished 'em like this before so who knows. Kind of gives 'em a bit of flash. Anyone ever try this?

    Nice looking SS, sorta looks like Defranks "Electric SS", I know for a fact this produces .

    Nice effect! Just picked up some pearl ice dub this afternoon and gonna' have to give it a whirl. As always, thanks for your tyes and tips.
    Your "Ice Spawn" looks similiar to Mark Defrank's "Electric Glo Spawn", but those are tied w/ a veil. Mark's "EGS" puts the volts to the steel.

    FG and Youghman - looked it up (Dafranks electric ss) - your right. Looks like he ties his in as a veil. Sounds like it might produce. Have to tie some more up I guess. Just one more thing to add to the fly fox

    Nice looking egg pattern. Adding flash, ice dub or lite brite to a ss or glow bug IMO increases the effectiveness of this fly considerably. I fish glo bugs a lot, always with some flash tied in as a veil.

    looks good to me.  don't just limit yourself to a flash dub though.  try other dubbings as well, even dull or dark, or bright with no flash.  flash is good for sure, but not always... i'll have to try this one myself
