Catamarans?

Just wondered why we don't see more catamaran hulls on Erie. Other than cost, I know that Erie is way different than most "blue" water but by the sounds of the engineering they should do well on the lake. Any ideas?

Actually, Erie, and all the great lakes for that matter, are pretty close to the typical conditions in the Gulf of Mexico and lots of guys run cats down in the gulf.  Glacier Bay and World Cat seem to be up near the top of what is used the most often but there are several other manufacturers.  Baha Cruisers has/had some cat models too.  They eat up the standard 2-4' t0 3'-5' tight stacked waves.  Some ride drier than others, depending on the hull design.  There are full and semi-displacement hulls and planing hulls.  Each has their own pros and cons.

Guys down there are worried about fuel consumption because they make 100+ mile runs, one way, to get to the deep offshore platforms for tuna fishing or the flower garden banks for awesome bottom action and trolling.  A Cat would make a great boat for Erie trolling (IMO) and you'd be out fishing more days than the typical monohull would be, and be safer and more comfortable.
