Anyone fish Chautauqua through ice?

I just got an opportunity today to fish this lake next weekend with some good friends of mine but I have only been there in the summer for bass.  Heard there was good perch there but I personally know nothing about it any advice?  Also any special regulations on this lake or in NY?

Never fished it through the ice, but we fished it this past summer and were into perch and blue gills all week whenever we wanted to go for them. I don't know of any special regulations, stop in at the bait shop and get a 3 day license and some little perch jigs tipped with a little piece of night crawler. You should do well. If you've fished it for bass you know the drop offs. If not go to the boat launch at Predergast and walk down to the point where the marina is there are pole sticking out of the water. That's where the drop off is. Fish from there to 30 yards out working your way back to the boat launch. That should give you a good start.

I thank you much! All I did was fish out of the back of someone's boat in a draw tournament flipping docks so I really appreciate the information.  I just got into ice fishing last year and I'm hoping for a fish fry next weekend with the guys! Thanks!

Reports are there isnt to much good ice over there right now. A couple days ago a guy fell through at pendergrass so check the ice as you go out and be careful.

Also, the narrows at Bemus Point where the ferry crosses sometimes has bad ice because of the current there

Last year the perch bite was hot...Minnow on a small jig or hali spoon, jigged just off bottom....Maggots worked well also..

It's below zero in the area today so the ice should tightening up and be safer by next weekend..

The best spot right now for perch and gills is Burtus Bay. Park at the Lakewood launch. This past weekend as many as 20 huts have been on the ice. Randy

...  Also any special regulations on this lake or in NY?

Another thing to note; crappie have to be 9" to be harvested.  In some PA waters that would make like all of them illegal to harvest.  But chautaqua has plenty of crappie over this mark.

Also make sure you HAVE the receipt of any minnows you bought and make SURE they are certified VHS free. (all your tackle shop if they do;  Pages in Warren PA complies with NY minnow restrictions- as well as all the local NY tackle shops)

Ny is making a real big deal about that.
PA and Ny have rather similar seasons/size/harvest regulations

We ended up fishing in the mayville area got into some perch nothing really to write home about but was happy to get out.  The ice was sketchy in a lot of places so options were limited.  I did call and stop in at happy hookers great place and nice people I highly recommend it.  Thanks to everyone for the advice!
