Little J

I fished her on Thursday, Fin - Nom -In - All.

Creek was very low which made it possible to fish some places I couldn't fish before.
Largest brown was 15". Lots of 10-12" fish.

I fished the little J Thursday also.  The fishing was steady, many fish rising but they were sipping midges off the surface. The fish seemed smaller than my last few trips, nothing over 14".

We only saw 2 people all day and that was early in the morning.
    We moved twice.

There are midges on the J most of the year, and fish have been midging over the past few weeks. This time of the year, there are often a lot of the tiny #24 brownish olive bodied, bwo's.

I don't know what they were feeding on, but it was small.

I didn't attempt to match the hatch, instead I fished for the instinct bite.

    Cork was king.

The pictures: the one I wanted the most, came out the worst. It's the next to last
picture. I caught a double header. One fish is jumping out of the water, the other
is invisible in the pic. Bummer.

Yes in the slow water the fish were taking midges.  It's funny you mention bwo's though, because the places I picked up most of my fish in had many  roughly size 18 mayflies emerging.  I couldn't catch any to see what they were but the fish were working pretty good on them.  From a distance there body seemed to be a dark yellow bordering olive.  I caught most of my fish swinging small blue wing olive colored soft hackles.

How's the Little J looking lately?

Thinking about fishing some on Sunday, I haven't fished the J since last February.  Any bug activity?

Well I was there in late Sept. and it was very low, and considering we really haven't had any rain I'm guessing its even lower, not saying you can't fish thought. As for bug activity.....I have nothing for you.

I've only fished the J probably 6 or 7 times.  I was thinking that "low" might be real good in certain areas.

"low" is real good in certain areas. Some of the deeper pools that aren't very fishable are very fishable right now.

My father fished it last week. He did well with terrestials(sp?).

Fished the little J sunday.  "low" is quite an understatement.  I have never seen it as low as it is now.  Fish were pretty spooky....5-6x was necessary.  Managed about a half dozen most on #16 tan caddis emerger fished on the bottom and 1 on a #18 copper john.  Saw very few fish rising although I did see quite a few "small" white/grey midges, probably #28's or smaller.  Most of the fish we got seemed to be getting their "spawing" colors however, I didnt see any fish on redds yet.  My guess they will be in the next few weeks.
