Bass lure for steelhead?

I was fishing for steelies thru the ice one day, getting nothin, and a guy near me claimed that he kills them with small Bass Asassins (shad imitator). Is he pulling my leg??

    Dunno, but I use that lure for panfish and lake trout ice fishing, and for panfish in open water too, and it is dynamite!

    chili,I have done well on steelies in the streams with them,also on stockies in the lakes, & very well using them with jigs for crappie.I use the very small ones.  sam

    Red, depending on flow & depth,I either lip hook them with a small hook & bobber with light shot, or use a small jig & drift it sight fishing, using an 1/64 oz jig. prob. could use a larger one & larger jig in the lake or deeper water with more flow.Best part of them is that they are easy to carry & you don't have to worry about them dying.lol Also have caught some on small paddletails fished the same way.  sam
