I do fish stockies with the pin on the bigger trout streams ie tionesta creek and Clarion River. Pretty much leave everything the same except for smaller floats generally and lighter leaders. Never experimented with them for smaller streams.

i fish a lot of small creeks for trout over the summer, used to do it with a 7'11" orvis superfine. that's the action i'm looking for, a nice smooth bend with enough power in the butt to turn the occasional 20" brown. 4 piece so it fits in the box on my 4 wheeler. lamiglass is getting the once over now.

    have a nice day.

8 ft rod, 2 gram float... powerworm.  Ask Loomis, he knows.

"Sure, we can assiduously three-quarter our wets downstream, mend and wait out each fly swing, over and over again, which to my way of thinking, anyway, relegates the angler to the role, not of nemesis as it should be, but of butler."
