Oak Orchard trip 11-8 to 11-14

Fishing was slow. Some people did goood some not as good.My wife and I landed 20 trout during the week amid huge crowds of fisherman. Large fish appeared late in the week , as we caught 4 in the 10 to 11 lb. range and 1 14lb brown. last year we landed about 40 in 5 days. the weather though was beautiful and the only downside was dealing with extremely rude pinners! We had them constantly in our drifts and when you said anything you were called a-holes. Why someone who can fish 35 yard drifts and have to throw on top of people fishing a 30 foot drift and feels that is ok is bewond my limited reasoning.Of the 10 or so pinners we encountered, 4 or 5 were real polite fisherman, the others were quite lucky I was not 28 again. It is no wonder the few of you pinners who are real people have to put up with the bad mouthing that you endure because of the poor sportsman and jerks who do this. It is sad because it is so deadly they don,t need tp through over your drifts! My new line to them now is " if you hook one in my drift , you better land it quick. If you have NO angler courtesy to me or my wife , I have none for you" .

Sorry the pinners were so mean to you and your wife. Your exactly right about it being hard as a respectful pinner and getting a bad rep. just because you hold a pin in your hand. I'm planning on going up saturday but read that they were suppose to start to empty the canal this week so I may have to put it off.

Sounds like you had a good trip other then the pinners.

    Thanks for the report!

If you let them hog the drift it will continue. I simply cast over them and let go where it goes if it tangles up 4 or 5 times they get the message! It usually resolves the problem quick for me!
