Elk=Cameron=wildlife alert

What happened to all the wildlife in this part of the state, I have been in the woods all fall, and have been  hunting turkeys for two full weeks, 6 hours a day, early am, 3 hours til dark..\\ Here is total..2 gobblers seen, 8 squirrels, 5 one evening, 18 deer, only 1 buck...woods seem  to be dead, nothing but chipmunks...some deer sign..///  rubs/scrapes, but you don't even see a deer while traveling roads. wardens say no winter kill, but what else would they say...you guys who hunt quehanna area better do your scouting or you won't see a deer this year..never in past 8 years has it been so void of wildlife..have not even seen a flock of turkeys on the back roads and i have driven all over quehanna//moshannon state forest.. and hunters are the fewest i have ever seen..so much for crossgun invasion..have not seen a crossgun hunter yet..no impact in this region...

    Turkey hunting declined dramatically in our area of McKean when the coyotes showed up.

    Better too far back, than too far forward.

    MM, where do you hunt in McKean Co?  I noticed the same thing this year w/ turkey #'s and coyote / bobcat sightings, Eldred area.  We used to have multiple 15-20 bird hen flocks and a good 12 bird gobbler group.  I would say this year down to one 12 bird hen and 5 bird gobbler.  As if the winters weren't hard enough already on them.

    Every time I saw the yotes I had my bow.  .204 was half mile away in my truck.

    between bradford & Kane. Coyotes hit our area in the mid 80's. By 1990 you could sit to call turkeys and in would come a yote.

    Well i guess they're moving east then.  We always had a couple yotes around here and there, but never seemed to impact anything until this year.  Most times it wasn't even worth the time to target them with predator calls.

    Don't get me started on the bear (over)population either.  North-east McKean Co and north-west Potter.  3A is loaded.  Please, anyone reading this.  Come next week.  Spot burn!!!
