Steelhead Setup

Guys,

I have been fishing with my center pin most of the summer, but I am now preparing for the steelhead run. I am wondering what the best way to set up my pin from my siglon to hook (please include brand and size of line).

I have been fishing with a 6lb fluoro leader and 5x tippet, but I am worried about fish breaking me off.

I use 12 lb Siglon as a mainline (mainly because I think it casts better and I can also use it for kings) followed by 8 lb test froghair as my shotline followed by 3 or 4 lb test Ashima Fluoro. I rarely have steelies break off. It really depends more on how your rod protects your tippet.

Thanks for the help 18andlife. I want to make sure I get this right before I head up to Erie. I know I will have a difficult time landing the first couple of fish on my pin. So far the largest fish I have landed on it was a 3.5lb 22" brown. I am looking forward to fighting a couple of the big guys.

Been fishing 8# Siglon, for a couple years, with either 4# or 6#PLine floro leader, depending on the flow.

Was time to change line, so I spooled up with 10# Siglon.
