Hudson River Water Levels

Did anyone else who crossed the Hudson everyday notice how HIGH the water was in that river this afternoon?  I tend to take a glance everyday as I drive over the Patroon Island Bridge just to see where the tide is at, etc.
 
But today around 5pm it was as high as I have EVER seen it!?!   I am talking WAY up, like covering the tree branches on the eastern shoreline!!!
 
Looking from I-787, I noticed the whole boat ramp at the Hilton Center has disappeared under water!!!  Really weird, and with no full moon to throw a huge tide I just can't figure out what's up. 
 
I drove along the far Upper Hudson around Noroth River/North Creek on Sunday afternoon and everything looked totally normal flow-wise.  We got zero rain up in the ADKs over the weekend, so I doubt the water is coming from that direction. 
 
Does anyone have any idea if they maybe lowered the gates on the Mohawk early or something?  
 
Any idea what would cause such huge water levels in the Albany area without rain or 'spring tides'?

I was thinking the Canal System was responsible too, but I always thought the locks closed and gates were raised sometime toward the middle or end of November.  I know I was going through Lock 7 this time of year the past two seasons on a regular basis to pound the smallies near the Vischers Ferry generation plant.
 
Maybe they have changed the normal navigation season this year due to budgets or something?  I would have to think there are still plenty of big boats on Ontario/Champlain/St Lawerence that haven't made their seasonal pilgrimage down south yet to the Intercoastal. 
 
One of my favorite parts of Striper season is seeing where all those huge me****achts are from when they cruise by on their way to points north for the summer.  Someday I'd love to do the "Grand Loop" from FL to TX to OH to NY and back down.  I knew some guys who lived on boats in FL who have done it. 
 
Sounds like an awesome way to spend a summer if you've got the scratch and the boat to do it!
 
Anyway, thanks for the input!  Seriously, the river is CRAZY high!!!! 

I'm telling you man! I knew it was going to come to this sooner than later! the drilling hit a main vain and now the huson is transformed forever and ever!

I was up in schuylervill yesterday and the water is low and coming down.They're doing something with the lvls.I saw camo-fish out there too.We were wackin the crappies pretty good with a few nice ones thrown into the mix.

Yep, sounds like it Jimmy. Kevin and I were on the Mohawk today. Didn't do any trolling like planned (I'll be doing that tomorrow and Thursday. Anyone interested? pm me.), but we had a fun day. Oh yeah, we did catch a few fish also.

Nice fish, but some scary looking dudes!  I was at Champlain Canal Lock 1 last week and the water was very high...looked like spring thaw without the flotsam.  Must have opened all the locks.
