Another Law-What is this one????

You have a protection to carry a concealed weapon permit...No hunting license.....are you permitted to carry this weapon in hunting season while taking a nice scenic walk in the woods.try it off the top of your head like the other thread..you might be surpised at the correct answer...

wrong/right/...here is what i was told by another person whos wifey did not have a hunting license buy a permit to carry......wco could arrest her for hunting without a license..say big game season...bear/deer.....or anyother season other than archery.....

wco..would have to prove that she was hunting ....lady..would have to prove she wasn't hunting...

secondly in my opinion....if they did not see weapon, they would have to have probable cause to search her for weapon...walking in the woods is not probable cause to say you are hunting.."my opinion"

Magistrate would have to side with one that had the most evidence one way or the other

this info was relayed from a divisional office of the pgc...

i was also informed that when a police officer /computer in car/ runs your license plate on a stop it will show that you have a permit for handgun...so wco's would have same access to those records in harrisburg..

    now let the debate start..

i know people who carry pistols with them while archery hunting in area's where bear are fairly populated... self defense and the comission officers have never said anything about it. it was even a partly the reason why my dad bought a contender pistol to take while he was archery hunting after he spoke with a comission officer who said as long as it's used for protection, it's ok.

a lot of game laws have a certain amount of gray area that leaves it up to the judgement of the officer... and even if there isn't a gray area, they'll make one.

It is now legal to carry concealed with your valid CHL while archery hunting.

To the original poster, if she was walking in the woods in full camo then the WCO might have a better case but, in everyday clothes on a regular stroll, the WCO would have a tough time proving it, I think.

Personally, I believe my 2nd ammendment rights trump the state game laws and was glad to finally see the law changed re: carrying while archery hunting.  If you were carrying concealed, it shouldn't have been a problem even before it was "legal."  I wonder if anyone was ever charged for carrying concealed while archery hunting and if so, did they fight it at all?

I know about the change to legalize concealed carry while archery hunting and was upset to see the local wco be very stingy with that information. He stated he was upset with the law and didn't really want a lot of people to know about it. Same with the concealed carry while spotting.

The only snag I see here is if you are a non hunter accompanying a hunting party or hunter. There is language in there about a 1-1 ratio and so forth it might get a little tricky there.

As for me, I'm carrying if I so desire. The wco can fight the NRA over it.

Musky.. had the EXACT same thing happen with our local WCO...

It was like "pulling teeth" to get him to talk about the fact you could now carry with a permit while archery hunting or spotlighting...

He's "hell-bent" on thinking it is going to cause more poaching while spotlighting or illegal shooting while archery hunting..

I tease him all the time about if a deer is shot with a hand gun while archery hunting he has the "stuff" to check the entry and exit wounds for trace gunpwder... so what's the big deal.. just pretend it's an episode of CSI on TV...

and just how many are going to use a handgun to poach off a spotlight ??

As poorly as I shoot my .45 I am fairly sure a deer would be safe at a distance of 20 yards.

I asked a WCO if I needed to unload my 629 Smith before getting into my truck after hunting.
He said as long as I have a concealed carry permit I was OK.
At the time I was wearing an open carry western holster
