Best I have is a scrub 8 so far this year.  Very depressing.  Guess I'm meat hunting if nothing new shows up.  At least before trail cams I could dream that there were big ones around.  But then again, hunting in the scrub buck capital of PA doesn't help either.

I have a bunch of small-medium 8's, nothing to write home about.  I have seen a couple bigger guys while I was sitting out watching some fields a few weeks ago on the property I hunt.  I saw a bachelor pack with 2 10's and a very wide, although not heavy 8.  I have seen more legal bucks this year during my preseason scouting than I have in probably the past 2 combined.  The anticipation is building.....

I'm holding out hope that my old man has a batch of pics he hasn't sent me yet.  I'm a good 2 hours away from my cameras so he tends them.  And let me tell ya, I almost have to beat the pictures out of him.  Not like he's trying to hide anything.  Just forgetful.  Last pic I saw was 8/22.

I've always said, trophies are determined by your core area.  In mine a non-broken 15" inside spread 8 is a trophy.  We get bigger though, but nothing compared to western counties or OH.  However, 30 miles down the road is a different story.  Big 8's in 20" range and 10's year in and year out.  Can't explain it.  I hunt there too from time to time.

I live in nw pa and work for the township. I work out on the back roads daily, from what I seen still quite a few deer around. Have only encountered 2 scrub bucks and 2 decent bears thus far this year.
